Fat-burning foods

When you want to slim down or lose weight, it's not necessarily necessary to go on a drastic diet; it's just important to stick to the breakfast, lunch and dinner trio, and pay close attention to the composition of your plates.  

Some foods will promote weight loss while others will accentuate it. We talk about "fat-burning" foods, ideal to help you refine your figure and " stock-fat" foods that should be banned. The fat-burning foods will increase the number of calories burned by the body and thus limit the storage of fat.

Let's start with fruits and vegetables... Thanks to their high soluble fiber content, some fruits and vegetables will help you lose weight. They create a sort of gel in your body that captures the fat absorbed during your meal.

Eggplant

The number 1 fat-burning vegetable, eggplant is 95% water and low in calories. Thanks to its high absorption capacity, it acts as a sponge for toxins and fats. This is due in particular to its high dietary fiber and pectin content.

Be careful how you cook eggplant, however, as its absorbency also works with cooking oils. Preferably baked or barbecued (depending on the season), or cooked in ratatouille with other vegetables. Recipe here.

Zucchini

Like eggplant, zucchini is low in calories, with around 13 calories per 100 grams. It is also rich in vitamins and trace elements. What's more, this green vegetable has a diuretic effect, thanks to its high potassium content and low sodium content (the cause of water retention).

To accentuate the fat-burning effect, you can eat this vegetable with its skin, which is rich in fiber and helps accentuate weight loss.

The apple

As well as being a highly effective fat-burner, apples are also satiating, making them the perfect slimming ally for slimming down without starving. It is very rich in pectin, which traps fat in the stomach. For even more slimming action, choose Granny Smith apples, which are low in sugar. Although low in calories, the body spends more calories digesting them than the fruit itself: 95 calories to digest them, compared with 85 calories in an apple. Apples can be eaten throughout the day.

Like zucchini, you can also eat the skin, which is rich in fiber and vitamins.

We often hear that avocados are fatty fruits, but this lipid-rich food is also a valuable ally for slimming and health. Although quite calorific: around 138 calories per 100 grams, it contains a high level ofunsaturated fatty acids, which help the cardiovascular system to function properly. These are "good" fats. What's more, its high fiber content means you'll feel full straight away.

Very easy to cook, it can simply be eaten raw with a drizzle of lemon (and definitely not a drizzle of olive oil) or in a detox smoothie.

Citrus fruit

Citrus fruits are low in calories and fat.

Grapefruit is particularly rich in vitamins C and B9, as well as papain, an enzyme that burns fat molecules. Grapefruit provides around 30 calories per 100 grams, and can be eaten plain, for breakfast or as a snack.

Then there's lemon. This acidic citrus fruit is ideal for helping you lose weight. It boosts digestion and regulates blood sugar levels. For easy consumption throughout the day, you can dilute the juice of two lemons in a large bottle of water. And for summer, lemons can be drunk as lemonade, an excellent alternative to sodas, which are far too sweet. Thanks to its natural diuretic action, lemon also helps eliminate harmful toxins through the kidneys and urinary tract.

Next among the most effective fat burners are spices. Often used in cooking for their flavour, spices also have unexpected virtues and can be used as condiments for weight loss. They can easily be incorporated into a wide range of recipes: dishes, juices, desserts, etc.

Cinnamon

This spice can be used to flavour both sweet and savoury dishes. It has long been regarded as a slimming ally in the fight against overweight and for maintaining a healthy weight. It also acts as an appetite suppressant and helps curb cravings. Rich in active ingredients, it helps regulate insulin production and acts directly on our fat cells.

Ginger

Ginger is a medicinal root known for its healing properties. Used in many diets, ginger acts on the main factors that lead to weight gain: it produces a thermogenic effect in your body that will increase calorie burning.

Ginger can be taken as an infusion.

Turmeric

This spice has a preventive action against dimpling. In fact, the root promotes better lipid digestion and facilitates the elimination of fatty tissue. Curcumin also has a fat-burning effect, targeting the abdominal area.

Coffee or tea? You should know that certain beverages, consumed without sugar of course, can also help you slim down your body.
